The West Bengal State Archives serves as the nodal agency of the Eastern Zone for processing applications submitted by different government and non-government organizations of this region seeking financial assistance from the Central Government for preserving old and rare documents, books and manuscripts in their possession. Teams of archival officers visit these repositories to assess their importance and then the applications are sent to the National Archives of India along with the survey reports and recommendation.
