Being the oldest repository of South East Asia, the Directorate of State Archives assists to set up archives of different government departments by providing necessary guidance and the copies of relevant records series. Andaman and Nicobar Government, Calcutta Port-Trust, Manipur State Archives, National Archives of Denmark, Netherland and Malaysia have already received such assistance from our archives.

On request, the archival officers have been deputed for appraisal, physical arrangement, and conservation of the records lying in the custody of Raj Bhavan (Governor House of West Bengal), Bethune College and Institut-de-Chandernagore, Hooghly.

This Archives also extends its assistance for organizing exhibition, workshop, making documentary films etc.

The Indian Council of Historical Research chose this Archives as the nodal agency to conduct a project on "Dictionary of Martyrs".
