Private Collection
Apart from the records generated by government bodies, the archives also includes among its holdings records of business houses, cultural bodies and institutions, personal correspondences and papers of eminent personalities. In view of the increasing importance of private papers as source materials for research, in 1980 this office embarked upon an ambitious project of collecting private papers from eminent personalities/families of Bengal. These papers, though small in quantity, contain valuable information on the socio-economic and political development of Bengal during the period from 1859 to 1947. The digitizations of the existing collections of private records have been recently completed.
